Technical Information
JMLC and Euro-Par 2003 will provide the following options to access the Internet from
the conference venue:
- Wireless LAN access (IEEE 802.11b):
Participants bringing their notebook computers with WLAN cards (IEEE 802.11b)
will have Internet connectivity in the central conference area (near the Cafeteria
on Level 1).
- Wired LAN access (Fast Ethernet):
Participants bringing their notebook computers with a standard network interface
(Fast Ethernet) will have two options to access the Internet:
- There are a number of network outlets in the conference area of the
university which will be accessible for conference participants. You should,
however, bring your own patch cable with RJ45 connector to be able to
benefit from this option.
- There will be a computer room where a limited number of ports on an
Ethernet switch - including patch cables - will be accessible for conference
participants.
- Conference PCs:
There will be two computer rooms which should make available a sufficiently
large number of PCs for conference participants to access the Internet. The
PCs will run the Windows 2000 or XP operating system (OS). Please note that
only a limited number of machines will have an English-language OS and keyboard;
most of them will have German OS versions installed. Standard Internet browsers
(Internet Explorer and Netscape) will be provided.
The location of the computer rooms can be seen on the the
conference
rooms page. Information (a "HowTo") on your computer setup, user
ID and password will be available on-site and in the conference material ("Welcome
Package") which you will receive during registration.
