Currency:
Since March 1, 2002 the Austrian currency is the Euro ().

There are bank notes with denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euro. Coins are available at a face value of 1, 2, as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Cents.

Austrian Schillings are no longer accepted.

National and foreign currencies:
can be imported and exported in unlimited amounts.

Credit Cards:
Credit cards are accepted in cities and tourist centres by numerous hotels, restaurants, shops and gas stations. If and which credit cards are accepted is indicated by the logos displayed on the exterior facade of the respective business (usually on the entrance door).

Banking:
Mon-Wed and Fri: 8.00 - 12.30 and 13.30 - 15.00; Thu: 8.00 -12.30 and 13.30 - 17.30. Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The exchange counters at airports and main railway stations are usually open from the first to the last plane or train, i.e. from 8.00 -22.00 seven days a week.

Business:
Mon-Fri: 8.00 - 12.30, 13.00 - 17.30 (offices/companies do not work Friday afternoon.).

Government:
Mon-Fri: 8.00 - 12.30, 13.00 - 17.30 (offices/companies do not work Friday afternoon.).

Shops:
Mon-Fri: 8.00 - 19.30 or 8.00 - 18.00; many shops close for a two-hour lunchbreak. Sat: 8.00 - 17.00.

Electricity supply is 230V AC, 50Hz. Electrical outlet: plugs have only 2 pins - e.g. US participants need plug adapters and converters for 110/120 Volt appliances.
